Our 999 silver and 999 copper commemorative coins share the same production sequence. Explore six core stages, from prepared metal strip to coin striking and laser engraving. Die preparation runs alongside blank preparation; both come together at the striking stage.
Process illustrations show the key manufacturing stages. Additional preparation, finishing and inspection steps depend on the agreed coin specification.
Prepare metal sheet or strip to the specified dimensions before cutting coin blanks. Material specification, thickness and target weight are considered together.
Cut individual blanks from the prepared strip using a blanking tool. The blank provides the body of the coin before the design is struck.
Machine the coin tooling from the approved design. The tooling defines the lettering, artwork and relief that will be transferred to the metal.
Refine and polish the working surface of the die. Careful preparation of the tooling supports the intended contrast between the background and raised design.
Press the prepared blank between the coin dies to form the design. Striking transfers the relief and inscriptions onto the coin faces.
Laser-engrave the coin edge with the agreed text, numbering or other specified markings. Confirm the engraving content, placement and legibility in the approved design and sample.
